Influenster #ReviveBox

Revivebox Influenster

I was recently chosen to receive the Influenster #revivebox as part of my participation on the Influenster website. For those who are unfamiliar with Influenster, it is an online community where shoppers feature their reviews and opinions on the latest products, including cosmetics, gadgets and even food that just hit the market. For more information click here.

The #revivebox is a featured box that contains a number of new products to play with and test out. It included:

– 3 Coffee Pods
– Snackwells Biscuit Thins
– 3 Protein Powders
– Shea Moisture shampoo and conditioner
– Body Tech plastic bottle

Revivebox Influenster

I think the theme for this box was on point. I mentioned in previous posts that I recently purchased a Nutribullet and the protein powders in this box are a perfect way for me to test a number of different powders and be able to decide which one I like best. And I love the fact that they added the plastic bottle. Perfect for shaking up a smoothie!

And I never knew how good Snackwells’ Biscuit Thins tasted until this box was dropped off at my doorstop. It pairs up really well with the coffee pods!!! What better way to help you #revive than a cup of coffee, right? And they also included coupons, woo hoo!

Last but definitely not least are the Shea Moisture shampoo and conditioner samples. Love the way these smell (like you’re on vacation). I’m going to have to do some research and find out where I can grab full size bottles of these!

Revivebox Influenster

What are your thoughts on the box? I think this box couldn’t have come at a better time for me. Just the motivation I needed to get back into shape and work on #reviving myself.

The Influenster Revivebox and its contents was kindly sent courtesy of Influenster and it’s sponsors for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

Katy Kat Collection for Covergirl: Matte Lipstick in Catoure and Eye Mascara in Perry Blue Review

Katy Kat Collection for Covergirl Matte Lipstick in Catoure and Eye Mascara in Perry Blue Review 2

Happy Wednesday everyone. Today I’m going to share my recent budget friendly find, items from the new Katy Perry X Covergirl collaboration (Katy Kat Collection).

There are 11 shades in the Katy Kat Matte Lipstick collection and 3 shades in the Katy Kat Eye Mascara. I grabbed one of each, the Katy Kat Matte Lipstick in Catoure and the Eye Mascara in Perry Blue.

Katy Kat Collection for Covergirl Matte Lipstick in Catoure and Eye Mascara in Perry Blue Review 3

I was excited to give these a try and had high hopes for them, especially the Perry Blue mascara. After giving this one a try, I fell in love with the color and I’m currently trying to hunt down other formulas and colors that will show up on my dark brown eyelashes.

The Kate Kat Matte Lipstick in Catoure is a taupe muted plum . It almost swatches like a dark nude on my pigmented lips. The formula is a matte but isn’t drying on the lips. I can pull this one off without applying a primer or balm beforehand and my lips won’t feel super dry. For the price, results and color I give this a thumbs up.

Katy Kat Collection for Covergirl Matte Lipstick in Catoure and Eye Mascara in Perry Blue Review 1

On the other hand, the Katy Kat Eye Mascara in Perry Blue was a huge let down for a number of reasons. First, the color doesn’t show up even under direct sunlight. And I also tried applying primer the second time I tested it out to give it a boost and almost nothing showed up. Second, it doesn’t perform well as a mascara either. No volume, no separation and barely any curl.

Katy Kat Collection for Covergirl Matte Lipstick in Catoure and Eye Mascara in Perry Blue Review 4

Overall, I give the Kate Kat Collection from Covergirl one thumb up. The Matte Lipstick is a winner while the mascara is a no go. The collection is currently available at drugstores and online.

Have any of you tried the Katy Kat Collection from Covergirl? What are your thoughts?

August 2016 Birchbox: Endless Summer

Birchbox August 2016 3

The theme for this year’s August Birchbox is Endless Summer. The box was shipped out in the beginning of month and delivered at my door stop this past weekend. For those unfamiliar with Birchbox, it is a monthly beauty subscription. You pay $10 a month and receive a set of diverse beauty samples according to your beauty profile.

The Endless Summer theme for this month was meant to help extend the feel of summer into the upcoming fall season. While I don’t understand how these particular products reflect this month’s theme I was pleased with what I got nonetheless.

Birchbox August 2016 2

For this month, my Birchbox contained:

stila Matte About You Liquid Lipstick in Aria (a soft pink)
Living proof No Frizz Nourishing Oil
HUM Nutrition Raw Beauty Green Superfood Powder
Acure Organics Coconut & Argan Oil Cleansing Towelettes
Marcelle BB Cream Golden Glow

I was really pleased with everything in this month’s box. The stila liquid lipstick is a beautiful soft pink that goes on super smooth and really does last all day. When I went on the website to check out other colors I was pleased to see that they came in a set of three for only $20.

Birchbox August 2016

I’ve been into hair products lately, after discovering how good my hair can look with Beauty Protector’s Protect & Detangle spray. I received it in my May Birchbox and ever since I’ve been experimenting with more hair care products. So I’m more than happy I received the nourishing oil from Living proof. I cant wait to see what that can do.

Next up are the Coconut & Argan Oil Cleansing Towelettes. You can never have too many towelettes, well at least I can’t. I use them up like they’re water. Nothing better than cleaning your face in a matter of seconds. Especially when your slowly falling asleep and realize last minute tat you didn’t properly clean your face. And a huge plus for the Acure Organics ones because they have argan oil in them and they smell like coconut!

Birchbox August 2016 4

For me, the newest item in the box is the HUM Nutrition Superfood Powder. Lately, I’ve been making “green” smoothies in the hopes that my energy level will go up and Ill get back to working out. So this protein powder could not have come at a better time. From the instructions all you need to do is pore the contents in any smoothie, drink or even just water. I’ll let everyone know how I feel about this one after giving it a good test run.

Last but not least is the Marcelle BB Cream. This product is not new to me, as I received a sample before in a previous box. And while I did use up the sample I got, I didn’t find the need to purchase the full size mostly because I have more primers than I need but I also thought it didn’t do anything my bronzer can’t.

An overall thumbs up for this months box. I like the fact that every month the boxes seem to get better and better.

If you’re interested, its not too late to get the August Birchbox subscription. And if you use the code EYEKOGIFT at checkout you’ll receive a free eyeliner (which I’ve used and love).

And best of all when you review your products you can get $5 back in points to use towards full size items in their store. I’m still saving mine for this beauty or this gorgeous box of goodies. Can’t wait till I save enough points.

Are any of you subscribed to any box subscriptions? Which box subscriptions are your favorite?

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2016 Wishlist

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale July 2016

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale starts today for Nordstrom card holders! The sale will be open to the public on July 22nd. The Anniversary sale is such a big hit with customers because it includes items that just hit the market for the fall at sale prices.

The sale includes items from almost every department: clothing, shoes, kids, home and most exciting of all are the beauty exclusives. I must say I have quite a few things on my wish list. Alas, that’s not to say I will purchase everything on it. Here are some of the things that caught my attention.

First, This Voluspa ‘Maison Blanc’ Mini Tin Candle Trio is absolutely adorable. I have a couple of these in my cart. One for me and a few to give away.

Candles Valuspa Trio

Another exclusive you might want to keep your eye on is the Jo Malone Cologne Set. From my experience these tend to sell out fairly quickly so you might want to grab it while you can.

Jo Malone Cologne Set Minis

Now for the makeup. I love when Nordies has their anniversary sale. There are many Beauty Exclusives you can grab at a great deal and there’s always a great Gift with Purchase deal you can take advantage of.

Charlotte Tilbury has a new Instant Beauty Palette called The Dolce Vita Look. I’m excited to see how this one will play out after playing with the first it looks like this will give olive gals more color than the first.

Charlotte Instant Look

MAC has a quite a few ‘Look in a Box’ kits in a range of colors from plum to nude.

Mac Look 1

MAC Look 2

When it comes to beauty gadgets it always best to grab them during these once in a blue moon sales. I’ve always been curious about the FOREA cleansing devices but never got myself to purchase one since I’ve never had issues with my Clarisonic. But if your in the market this one is on sale for a great deal and it comes in a range of color options (always a plus).

FOREO Luna Mini

NARS fans will love this one. The anniversary sale has a huge NARS ‘Cult Survival’ Kit that includes eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, blush, bronzer, setting powder, lipstick pencil, lipstick, lip-gloss and body oil all in a keepsake box. Pretty much everything you’ll ever need for makeup purposes. Nice!

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick – Rouge Berry

Bite Beauty Amuse Rouche Lipstick in Rouge Berry Swatch Review 2

Bite Beauty recently released a new limited-edition Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Rouge Berry ($26 for 0.15 oz.) Today I have swatches to share of Rouge Berry which unfortunately looks like it’s exclusive to Sephora VIB Rouge members. I don’t know what it is about ‘limited editions’ and ‘exclusives’ that makes a beauty junkie run for it as fast as the wind.

Sometimes, and I’m hoping this is one of those times, Sephora makes it available to all customers.

Bite Beauty Amuse Rouche Lipstick in Rouge Berry Swatch Review

Rouge Berry is a rich satin berry plum color. I think this color is better suited for a night out or days where you want to add more color to your look.

The texture is smooth and creamy. You can easily get full color on the lips with one swipe. But because this a darker color, some-like myself might have trouble applying. I would suggest using a lip pencil and/or a lip brush to make sure you get an even line on the edges.

Lasting power for the Amuse Bouche Lipsticks is very good. Lasted well into the afternoon when applied in the morning. Doesn’t feel heavy on the lips even though it provides great coverage. I also didn’t have a problem with my lips drying out when I had this on.

Bite Beauty Amuse Rouche Lipstick in Rouge Berry Swatch Review 4

There are other colors in this same formula if Rouge Berry doesn’t flow your boat. I reviewed Fig and Pepper in this post here. Overall, I give Rouge Berry a huge thumbs up.

The Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Rouge Berry is currently available for Sephora VIB Rouge members. However, once they make it available for all customers I will update this post.

What are some of your favorite plum colored lipsticks?

LUMENE Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover

LUMENE Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover 2
LUMENE is a new to me line of skincare and beauty products. The line carries a large array of items ranging from BB creams to serums and even cleansing wipes.

I was recently given an opportunity to purchase an item of my choice at a discount price using this coupon. Just like any gal you meet, I’m a huge fan of mascara and eye makeup and thought why not get something I’m gong to run out of and need very soon, so I opted for the LUMENE Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover.

When choosing eye makeup removers, I make sure its waterproof because I always have waterproof mascara, eyeliner or eyeshadow on. If its not waterproof it WILL smudge on me.

After a night of full makeup on, I decided to give my newest eye makeup remover a try and surprisingly enough it passed the test. It removed my eye makeup without irritating my eyes, I didn’t detect any heavy scent (which is a huge plus) and most of all it didn’t leave any kind of residue on my face.

LUMENE Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover 3

Overall, I think its a keeper. And at an awesome price, I say grab it while you can. LUMENE products are currently available at your local Ulta, CVS, Walgreens and Rite Aid.

Prices will vary by location and store. See your local drugstore for more information. And don’t forget to grab this coupon for $2.00 off any LUMENE purchase.

Have any of you tried any products from LUMENE? What are some of your favorites?

What’s in the Play! by Sephora – June 2016 Box

What's in the Play! by Sephora - June 2016 Box 2

I recently received my Play! by Sephora – June 2016 Box in the mail. For those unfamiliar with Play! by Sephora, it is a monthly beauty subscription launched by Sephora. You pay $10 a month and receive a box with the following:

– 5 deluxe samples plus a fragrance bonus
– Play! Book (a pamphlet which has information on the box contents + tips and tricks)
– Play! Pass (a card which allows you to redeem a free one-on-one tutorial + bonus points with any product purchase during the same store visit)

What's in the Play! by Sephora - June 2016 Box

The only way to subscribe is online at – but you have to sign up for a waitlist and once a spot opens they will send you an e-mail to claim a spot and join. I don’t quite remember when I signed up for the waitlist, but I only recently got accepted. In April I got my first Play! by Sephora box, but never got around to putting up the post on the blog.

The June 2016 Box just arrived in the mail last week and I’m going to share my first impressions of the items – six sample-sized products wrapped in a super cute drawstring pouch. In the box was the following:

•Bumble and Bumble – Don’t Blow It (0.34 fl oz/10 ml)
•BECCA – Backlight Priming Filter (0.05 oz/1.55 g, swatched on lips here)
•Bareminerals – Bareskin Bronzer (0.05 fl oz/1.5 ml)
•tarte – Tarteguard 30 Sunscreen Lotion (0.1 fl oz/3 ml)
•Benefit – They’re Real Mascara (0.1 fl oz/3 ml)
•Tocca Beauty perfume in Florence (in a tiny vial)

What's in the Play! by Sephora - June 2016 Box 4

I was excited to receive June’s Play Box because I didn’t what to expect this time around and the clues left everything up to the imagination. However, I’m happy with the results. Everything in the box is new to me with the exception of the Benefit – They’re Real Mascara (which I’ve purchased before and love). Can never have too much sunscreen so the tarte lotion should come in handy and the item I’m most excited about is the Becca priming filter.

What's in the Play! by Sephora - June 2016 Box 3

Overall, I give the Play! by Sephora June 2016 Box a huge thumbs up. If you haven’t subscribed for these you can add your name to the wait list online at – right now the only way to purchase a subscription is online. I think the wait time for each person is different depending on location. When I told a local Sephora sales rep that I got on the list she commented “Yeah, they started sending to our area.” There’s a page of FAQs here in case you have more questions.

Have any of you signed up for the Play! by Sephora Box? If you already signed up and received previous boxes what are your thoughts?

Friday Finds

Happy Friday everyone. I have a quick round up of my latest discoveries from around the web. Hope you all enjoy!
Clicking on the picture will take you to the source.

How gorgeous is this interior? I expecially love the lavender. So soothing and calm! And look at that garden! This must be a bed and breakfast or a resort of some sort. The picture was taken from the blog Brabourne Farm – Country House and Garden.

With nice weather out I’ve been seeing summer dresses everywhere lately. And when I think of summer and dresses , I think Free People.

A change in the season calls for a change in scent. I’ve been eyeing the latest fragrances from Urban Outfitters. They always have something that catches the eye, or should I say excites the senses. Either way, I think these are worth a look.

While stopping by at my local grocery store I noticed that all of the sea food was on sale. And what caught my attention was the tilapia. So of course I bought some and scoured the net for some dinner inspiration and I came across this Honey Lime Tilapia recipe. It looks so good.

That’s it for today folks. Hope everyone gets nice weather and enjoys the weekend. Till next time.

Clinique Pop Collection: ‘Cheek Pop’ ‘Lid Pop’ and ‘Pop Lip’

Clinique Pop Collection 'Cheek Pop' 'Lid Pop' and 'Pop Lip'

After seeing the latest additions to Clinique’s ‘Pop’ line I couldn’t help but think how cute and fun for the summer they would be. As I browsed the line at my local Nordstrom I decided on a few items that I thought I would use and took them home with me. They are:

Lid Pop Eyeshadow in Cream Pop ($17/ .21 oz.)
Cheek Pop Blush in Nude Pop ($22/ .12 oz.)
Pop Lip Color + Primer in Bare Pop ($18/ .14 oz.)

Clinique Pop Collection 'Cheek Pop' 'Lid Pop' and 'Pop Lip' 2

The collection is fun and vibrant and there were so many colors to choose from. Per usual, I opted for colors and options that were more neutral and wearable for my everyday lifestyle.

Lid Pop Eyeshadow in Cream Pop is a pretty golden nude shimmer, it has a unique cream to powder kind of finish that adheres well to the lids but doesn’t make them look dry

Cheek Pop Blush in Nude Pop has been on my list for ages, it’s a good neutral warm nude that adds a bit of natural color without looking too dark, it has a very soft sheen

Pop Lip Color + Primer in Bare Pop is a great wearable neutral that adds a natural hint of color and shine, I like that it didn’t dry out my lips and had no detectable taste or scent, there are a lot of other colors to choose from, I picked one to test out and really like the formula, Clinique also has two other formulas in the Pop Glaze Sheer and Pop Lacquers – I swatched a few briefly at the counter but decided to think about them

Clinique Pop Collection 'Cheek Pop' 'Lid Pop' and 'Pop Lip' 3

If you order online, Nordstrom currently has all their Clinique products for 10% off and there is a gift with purchase currently going on.

Receive deluxe samples of Smart Broad Spectrum SPF 15 Custom-Repair Moisturizer (0.24 oz.), Smart Custom-Repair Serum (0.34 oz.) and Smart Night Custom-Repair Moisturizer (0.24 oz) with your $49.50 Clinique purchase.

Clinique Pop Collection 'Cheek Pop' 'Lid Pop' and 'Pop Lip' 5

Overall, I’m pleased with my purchase and I can’t get over how cute the packaging is for the ‘Cheek Pop’ and ‘Lid Pop.’ Do you have any Clinique favorites?

Yves Saint Laurent Mascara Vinyl Couture I’m The Trouble and I’m The Craze Review

Yves Saint Laurent Mascara Vinyl Couture Review

Yves Saint Laurent recently launched the Mascara Vinyl Couture ($29/0.21 oz). It’s a revolutionary, intense, and super shiny formula that gives lashes length, volume, and curl with deep, saturated color. It comes in 9 different colors including:

1 – I’m The Clash (black),
2 – I’m The Unpredictable (aubergine)
3 – I’m The Excitement (green)
4 – I’m the Illusion (hazel)
5 – I’m The Trouble (blue)
6 – I’m The Madness (fuchsia)
7 – I’m The Craze (purple)
8 – I’m The Storm (dark sparkle top coat)
9 – I’m The Fire (gold sparkle top coat)

Yves Saint Laurent Mascara Vinyl Couture I'm The Trouble and I'm The Craze Review

I’ve been recently playing with number 5-I’m The Trouble (blue) and number 7-I’m The Craze (purple). I first applied these in my room (lighting is horrible might I add) and I thought it looked like any black mascara. However, once I stepped out into natural lighting, I was blown away. I’m The Trouble (blue) was so vibrant and obvious in a good way. I couldn’t help but feel polished and put together. Needless to say, I felt good the rest of the day.

Yves Saint Laurent Mascara Vinyl Couture I'm The Trouble and I'm The Craze Review 5

I’m The Craze (purple) did not have the same effect as the blue. The color didn’t appear as obvious on my dark lashes and with a primer, it only showed hints purple which only showed up when I was in direct sunlight.

In terms of formula I think this mascara works wonders. Curls, lengthens and separates my lashes. When applying in the morning my curls were still in tact well into the evening. And with notes of mandarin, jasmine, and vanilla this is a definite winner in my book. I would get it even if colors didn’t show up.

Yves Saint Laurent Mascara Vinyl Couture I'm The Trouble and I'm The Craze Review 2

Have any of you tried a colored mascara before? If so which one? Id love to hear your recommendations.

The Yves Saint Laurent Mascara Vinyl Couture in I’m The Craze (purple) was kindly sent courtesy of Influenster for review consideration. The Yves Saint Laurent Mascara Vinyl Couture in I’m The Trouble (blue) was purchased by me.
