I got my Play! by Sephora – August 2016 Box in the mail later in the month. For those unfamiliar with Play! by Sephora, it is a monthly beauty subscription launched by Sephora. You pay $10 a month and receive a box with the following:
– 5 deluxe samples plus a fragrance bonus
– Play! Book (a pamphlet which has information on the box contents + tips and tricks)
– Play! Pass (a card which allows you to redeem a free one-on-one tutorial + bonus points with any product purchase during the same store visit)
The only way to subscribe is online at Sephora.com/play – but you have to sign up for a waitlist and once a spot opens they will send you an e-mail to claim a spot and join. I’ve been a member since April of this year and I have to admit I look forward to this box every month. And what’s even better is that the contents truly are a surprise because they don’t get revealed until the boxes ship out and everyone who subscribed to the Play! box receives their box at the same time – so no spoilers on the web.
The August 2016 Box arrived in the mail last week and this is what was inside – six sample-sized products wrapped in a super cute drawstring pouch. The theme for this month’s box: The Eye Openers. In the box was the following:
•Lancôme – Énergie de Vie The Smoothing & Glow Boosting Liquid Moisturizer
•Algenist – Complete Eye Renewal Balm
•MAKE UP FOREVER – Artist Shadow Eyeshadow and Powder Blush in Pink Granite
•Sephora Collection – Contour Eye Pencil 12hr Wear Waterproof in 33-love affair (plum)
•Urban Decay – Perversion Mascara
•Clean perfume in Reserve Warm Cotton (in a tiny vial)
I’m so glad I’m able to subscribe to Sephora’s Play Box because I find myself pleased with everything inside. I’ve never tried any of Urban Decay’s mascaras and believe it or not I live off sample sized mascaras. I probably own only two full size mascaras that I’ve actually purchased.
I can never have enough pencil eyeliners and I’m a huge fan of the ones from the Sephora Collection. The Contour Eye Pencil I received is indeed water proof and the color is a nice deep plum that I think will look flattering on all skin tones.
The description of the Make Up Forever eyeshadow in pink granite is a soft shimmery pink. While the description makes it seem that all of these eyeshadows can be used on the cheeks as well. The website gives the names of just a few that were meant to be used on the cheeks. I didn’t attempt with pink granite simply because it has too much shimmer and it wasn’t included in the list I just mentioned.
I haven’t’ used Lancôme moisturizer or the Algenist eye balm but those are definetely next on my list. I especially like the packaging of Lancôme’s Énergie de Vie line.
Overall, I give the Play! by Sephora August 2016 Box a thumbs up. If you haven’t subscribed for these you can add your name to the wait list online at sephora.com/play – right now the only way to purchase a subscription is online. I think the wait time for each person is different depending on location. When I told a local Sephora sales rep that I got on the list she commented “Yeah, they started sending to our area.” There’s a page of FAQs here in case you have more questions.
Have any of you signed up for the Play! by Sephora Box? If you already signed up and received previous boxes what are your thoughts?
