Rouge Coco Stylo Complete Care Lipshine Review: 202 Conte and 214 Message + Giveaway

A couple weeks back I posted my review on three of the 8 new Coco Stylo Lipshines from Chanel. Today I have another two colors to share with you all and an amazing giveaway. I loved the formula and product so much I stopped at my local Chanel counter and grabbed another two colors, 202 Conte + 214 Message and I bought a back up of 218 Script.

Again, the Rouge Coco Stylo ($37) is an all in one formula that acts like a lip balm, lip stick and a lip gloss. It feels smooth and creamy on the lips, gives medium to full coverage and has a nice even shine.

Script is more of a nude, “your lips but better” color, which I’m a huge fan of.

Conte is a soft and subtle pink shade that I think would look great on any complexion or lip pigment.

Message is definitely a go to for a little extra color. It’s described as a dark rosewood/burgundy and I think for special occasions.

Friday Finds

Another Friday, means another post on my finds from around the web. This week has been pretty busy with lots of additions to my ‘to do’ list and getting almost nothing done. I hope everyone else had a more productive week. Here’s hoping the weekend is full of extra hours to spare, relaxation and of course for those of us who live in the Midwest….SUN!!!! We haven’t been getting much lately but what very little of it we do get is such a mood changer. I can’t believe how much one’s spirits rise when the sun is out. Who else can relate?

First up are these peonies. I think these flowers are some of the prettiest I have ever seen. I can’t get enough of them. I wish they were available all year round – Spring/Summer needs to come around soon. I’m considering getting seeds and growing some of my own because there never seem to be enough of them at the farmers market.


Next up are these brushes from Artis. You would never guess from the look of them that they are makeup brushes. Yes you read right…makeup brushes. With all the testimonials I’ve been reading I might have to put them to the test – all for the sake of my readers and the blog of course. 😉

Speaking of flower markets, this bag is super cute and the color is perfect for the spring and summer months. Some of you may know by now that I’m a huge fan of soft pastel colors and this one is just calling my name. Just imagine putting your freshly bought flowers from the market in it or using it to hold your laptop when heading to the your local café or library. Oh the possibilities.

Lately, I’ve had my eye on the Daniel Wellington watches. I have a huge collection of watches but surprisingly none from the DW collections. I love that they’re very simplistic yet exemplify sophistication and elegance. Definitely on my ‘want’ list.


Last but most definitely not least are these beauties. How cute are these Melon Mousse shot glass desserts? These would be perfect to make over the weekend. If only we were able to sit out on the deck, soak up some sun and enjoy the fresh breeze outside 😀 ….but alas, we just had some snow yesterday and this recipe will have to wait (insert sad emoji)…how long you ask…I really don’t know.

Tory Burch Jolie Fleur Verte Eau De Parfum Review


Tory Burch recently released her first fragrance collection, Jolie Fleur. The collection is made up of three floral fragrances inspired by the aroma and beauty of her garden flowers. On the Tory Burch website, it’s described as “classic and unexpected, feminine and tomboy, easy and polished” and includes fragrance, body, and home.

JOLIE FLEUR BLEUE: An elegant and understated mix that contains hints of grapefruit and sandalwood. This fragrance was inspired by the tuberose. It contains the following notes – tuberose, jasmine sambac absolute, grapefruit, sandalwood, vetiver, mandarin, pink pepper, violet leaves, cassis, peony, amber, cedarwood oil.

JOLIE FLEUR ROSE: A feminine and romantic blend inspired by the iconic rose. It contains the following notes: rose essential, fresh tea rose accord, cashmeran, musk, pink pepper, green sap accord, strawberry leaves accord, violet, white amber, sandalwood

JOLIE FLEUR VERTE: Said to capture the crisp green color and dewy aroma of lily of the valley and might just be the lightest of the three. It contains the following notes: lily of the valley, jasmine absolute, mandarin, neroli oil, dewy green accord, cedarwood, sandalwood, musk


Of the three I decided to purchase the Jolie Fleur Verte ($90-$120/1.7-3.4 oz.) I decided on this one, even though I’m a huge fan of Roses and their wonderful feminine scent, because I wanted to change it up a bit. First, I loved the idea of adding some green to my perfume collection and second the citrus scent of mandarin highly appealed to me.


After spritzing this on for a number of days, one of the first things I noticed is that it was very light and refreshing. Almost like a body mist but much stronger. The lily flower notes in this one are obvious but not in a ‘in-your-face kind of way, which I appreciate. When it comes to perfumes I can have a sensitive nose. Staying power for this one didn’t last as long as I was expecting. I found myself wanting to spritz more of this because I noticed it was starting to fade earlier than expected.


Overall, a thumbs up for Jolie Fleur Verte. The floral scent is amazingly refreshing and not overpowering. However, it didn’t seem to last long on me and after a few hours I found myself wishing there was more of the product. For the price I can’t say this is a must have product. But, if you have change to spare I’d say it’s a great perfume to add to your collection. Have any of you had a chance to test any of the perfumes from Tory Burch’s Jolie Fleur Collection? Clarins Everlasting Foundation+ SPF 15 Review and Swatches

Today I’m going to share my review of the Clarins Everlasting Foundation+ ($42/1 oz.). I started using this foundation after a friend recommended it for its full coverage and matte finish. The weather is getting a little warmer here in Chicago and I decided to try and prepare my skin for a new makeup routine that involves a foundation with a little more coverage.

The Clarins Everlasting Foundation+ SPF 15 is a fluid foundation that provides full coverage for up to 18 hours and all the while gives the face a natural and fresh look. It comes in a glass pump which, for me, is a plus because I don’t like having to dig my finger into foundation bottles and getting it stuck underneath my nails, yuck. You can apply to the back of your hands or directly to your foundation brush or beautyblender. I prefer the beautyblender for this one. Also, an added bonus is that it has an SPF of 15.

The Everlasting Foundation I was matched to is 107 Beige. It’s much lighter in color than other foundations I’ve been matched to, including NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint in St. Moritz ($44) and Chanel Perfection Lumière Velvet in 30 Beige ($48). It’s almost invisible on my arm (that’s a first). However, come summer time I might need to be matched again since I tend to tan easily.

First impression of the Everlasting Foundation is that it feels lightweight and almost invisible on the skin. In other words I don’t feel like “cake face” when I have it on, which for me and most others is a big deal, especially when dealing with full coverage foundations. With one layer coverage is pretty good and is buildable to your liking without looking like your wearing clown makeup. The formula is not thin but not too thick either. (Oops, I forgot to take a picture of its consistency.) It has a slight scent to it that to me is almost invisible. After a couple of minutes I can barely smell it.

So far, when wearing this foundation for more than 10 hours, by the end of the day it still looks pretty descent. However, after 5-6 hours of wear, I did notice that a few touchups were needed. Hope that helps!

Overall, I give this foundation a thumbs up and suggest you take a look if your looking for a lightweight full coverage foundation. What are your recommendations for a full coverage foundation? Which one is your favorite?


Newest Sets in Makeup and Skincare

There seems to be a lot of new sets going around lately with labels such as “starter kits” and “travel friendly.” I’m not surprised as most beauty junkies like to be able to try items before investing in the full size product. And if your anything like me, the smaller and cuter the product the more likely you are to make a purchase. I mean who can pass on cute mini lipsticks and nail polishes, am I right?

First up is this new Smashbox ‘Lip Must-Haves’ Set ($29). It comes with one Always Sharp Lip Liner in Rosebud (0.009 oz.), one Be Legendary Lip Gloss in Promise (0.16 oz.) and a Be Legendary Lipstick in Primrose (0.1 oz.). I think this is a great deal for what your getting Considering the lip liner itself is worth $20. And I couldn’t have asked for better colors. What makes this kit even better is that all products are travel friendly.

Shiseido released their new ‘Ultimate Sun Survival’ Kit ($72). This is a limited edition and a great deal considering the kit is worth $141 and you’ll be getting two of their products at full size. The kit includes:

– A full-size Ultimate Sun Protection Lotion SPF 50+ WetForce (3.4 oz.)

– A full-size Urban Environment Oil-Free UV Protector SPF 42 (1 oz.)

– A bottle of White Lucent MicroTargeting Spot Corrector (0.3 oz.)

– A bottle of their White Lucent Anti-Dark Circles Eye Cream (0.17 oz.)

– One sheet mask of their White Lucent Power Brightening Mask

This kit is great for anyone planning on traveling to a place where there’s more sun than we’re currently getting here in Chicago or if you’re like me and anxious for summer to start.

While the Christian Louboutin Hawaii Kawai sets ($90) came out earlier this year I still thought I’d include them on this list. Louboutin has definitely elevated nail polish to a higher class. The bottles scream sophistication and the formula is one of the best I’ve seen. I’ve only ever purchased one bottle of his, the Limited Edition Scarabee I (sold out everywhere), and I must say it really does feel like I’m wearing something extra special on my nails.

The new Hawaii Kawai sets are also limited edition and I think they’re a great value for what you getting. His nail polishes are usually $50 a bottle but with the set you’ll be getting three for $90. Albeit, they are smaller in size, but if your a nail polish junkie and own 100s of other bottles, owning the smaller size bottles won’t make a difference. Like I said earlier, for some of us the smaller size might actually make all the difference when deciding to purchase.

Josie Maran has launched their new Argan Oil Glowing Complexion Collection ($49). The collection contains:

– 0.5 oz 100% Pure Argan Oil Light

– 1 oz Argan Matchmaker Serum Foundation in fair/light

– 0.095 oz Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelée in Poppy Paradise

– 0.17 oz Argan Enlightenment Illuminizing Wand

The collection is meant to brighten the face and give it a luminous and glowing complexion. The Josie Maran Argan Oil is one of the few bottles of face oils I’ve used and actually emptied. We all know how hard it is to use a product and actually finish it. It smells wonderful and feels great on the skin. Definitely not what you’d expect in an “oil” moisturizer, so I’m excited to see what the rest of the products in this kit have to offer.

Last, but definitely not least is Loccitane En Provence’s Relaxing Lavender Voyage Set ($26). I’m a huge fan of Loccitane. I’ve reviewed and mentioned how much I love their hand creams in this post here. I’ve also tried many different variations and scents from their collections. But I must say their lavender collection is one I haven’t tried yet, so it’s no surprise it’s the one that caught my attention. The voyage sets come in Cherry Blossom Floral, Refreshing Verbena, L’Occitan Aromatic, Cedrat Zesty and Relaxing Lavender.

The Relaxing Lavender, Cherry Blossom Floral and Refreshing Verbena all contain:

-Body Lotion 2.5 oz.
-Shower Gel 2.5 oz.
-Soap 3.5 oz.
-Hand Cream 0.34 oz.
-L’Occitane Box

The L’Occitan Aromatic and the Cedret Zesty contain:

I think this is a great way to get introduced to L’Occitane or to try any of their ‘new to you’ collections.

I’m not kidding I’m one of those weird normal people who LOVE looking at pictures of great looking food. No but seriously, I tend to splurge on things that I really want and sometimes I regret it and end up making returns due to the enormous guilt, but food that looks this good is NEVER something I regret and besides once its close enough for me to eat there’s no going back hahaha.

Speaking of food. How cute are these Grand Dame Recipe Tins? I’ve seen these in stores for as long as I can remember. I’m a huge fan of recipe boxes and this one does not disappoint. So vintage and chic – I love them! Rifle Paper Co. rarely, if ever, disappoints. They have an amazing collection of stationary and calendars, I’ve mentioned them before in this post here.

By now you all know I love collecting candles. This is one of the newest on my radar. The name, Apricot Tea, reminds me of Spring and I’m starting to get anxious. Hope this candle smells as nice as it looks. Who knows maybe I’ll get my hands on it and have a review posted soon.

Last but not least, I’m a little ashamed to say that I haven’t gotten my hands on a planner yet. So far I’ve been using a normal 5″ by 6″ notepad. However, I’m excited to say that this one looks good enough to purchase. So once I get my hands on it I’ll be able to have an organized agenda of what and when my posts shall be. I’m loving the stripes and metal details on this one, makes it look so classy.

Rouge Coco Stylo Complete Care Lipshine Review: 204 Article, 216 Lettre, 218 Script

I mentioned last week, in this post, that Chanel released a new product for their Rouge Coco line, the Rouge Coco Stylo($37). This is the first time Chanel creates a lip product of this kind. It’s pretty much an all-in-one lip product. According to the website, it claims to provide “the intensity of a lipstick, the shine of a lipgloss and the comfort of a lip balm — all in one creamy yet lightweight formula.”

Today I’ll be sharing a review and swatches of three of the colors from the collection:

– 204 Article (a warm and bold coral)
– 216 Lettre (a natural subtle pink)
– 218 Script (natural/beige nude)

I ordered these three from the website sight unseen. I think the colors are true to what you see online. They add a nice color and cover the lip entirely with a natural glossy sheen. Even on my pigmented lips they look quite similar to what you see in the tube.

The following is a swatch of the colors straight from the tube. You can tell how creamy the texture is as well as the sheen from the picture.


The formula is quite impressive. Glides on the lips smoothly. Color payoff is wonderful. And best of all they do act like a lip balm. I couldn’t help but notice that after the formula wore off, my lips didn’t feel dry or flaky.

I also noticed that even after some of the formula started wearing off, which was hours after I applied, there was still some color left on the lips. But enough so that the lips looked healthy rather than blotchy.

I blended the colors with my fingers to show what the colors would look like blended.

I think Script and Lettre are great for easy swipe-and-go kind of colors. Coral and some of the other brighter colors like 206 Histoire and 212 Récit might need a little more care when applying.

Overall, these are my favorite lip products yet. My only regret is not ordering more colors. Chanel has really done it again. Have any of you purchased any of the colors? What do you think? I have my eyes on other colors as well as the newest Le Vernis nail polish formula they released.

There are so many gorgeous “new to me” items this spring. It seems this Spring the focus is on glowing complexions, new foundation formulas, blushes, highlighters and of course new scents and perfumes to go around.

NARS released their new Velvet Matte Skin Tint Broad Spectrum SPF 30 earlier in February and it seems to be a hit with most. I did a review in January here and compared it with my all time favorite, the Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet.

Chanel will be releasing a new foundation, the Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation SPF 25 in March. On their website Chanel describes it as “an invisible foundation that creates a natural healthy glow by giving skin the radiance.” I can’t wait to try it and it has SPF which Is always a plus in my book.

Also on the Chanel front (they’ve been killing it this spring!) is a new formula for their Le Vernis nail polishes released along with the new Rouge Coco Stylo (review on the Stylos coming soon.) The new polish formula is said to contain bioceramics and ceramides to improve the quality of nails, while delivering long-lasting, high-shine color.

Marc Jacobs released a new 3-Piece Petites Highliner Gel Eye Crayon set in Essential Hues and Coveted Colors (review coming soon).

BY TERRY has released a new Liftessence Collection. The collection is meant to lift, firm, and protect against aging.

I’ve had my eye on the Kat Von D Lock-It Foundation and beautyblender Customizable Complexion Set. I think its a great deal for what your getting. The set also comes with samples of the Lock-It Featherweight Primer and Liquid blendercleanser.

This Spring has seen the release of many new fragrances. Including Tory Burch’s Jolie Fleur collection. It comes in three different scents including: Verte’ (review coming soon), Bleue’ and Rose’.

I’ve been seeing Maison Martin Margiela’s Replica perfumes everywhere. The concept behind the brand is to evoke the scents hidden deep in our memories, with names such as Lipstick On, The Fireplace and The Flower Market. I might try to get my hands on Lazy Sunday Morning.

Jo Malone released a new fragrance collection called The Herb Garden. The collection is meant to replicate the aromas you would find in the garden. With scents that include lime, fruit, moss and rosemary this collection is both refreshing and new.

Last but definitely not least is Urban Decay’s new Urban Spectrum Eyeshadow Palette. This is a limited-edition eye shadow palette with 15 shades. How fun!

Dior Glowing Gardens Spring 2016 Collection Bleuette 491 and Lilac 301


For today’s #manimonday I’m going to be sharing the latest addition to my nail polish collection. With Dior’s Glowing Gardens collection came a new set of nail colors. They are:

– 650 Pivoine (described as a peony with shimmer particles)
– 491 Lilac (a light baby pink with a hint of purple)
– 302 Garden (a “soft green grass”)
– 301 Bleuette (a sky baby blue)

While all four colors came out with the Glowing Gardens collection, it seems that only the Lilac and Bleuette were available in the US. Today I have a review of both colors.

The formula for these is a very creamy but not thick formula making it easy to apply with precision. I used two coats and I am very happy to report that will get you at least a week with no chips.

These colors are perfect for Spring. If you love soft pastel colors your going to love these.

Friday Finds

Another Friday!!! I love how this week seemed to fly by so fast despite the temperatures. Staying warm can be pretty tough in Chicago, especially when you forget to check the weather forecast before you head outside. It’s been busy here at Beauty á la Mode, trying to stay warm, getting to work on time, meeting deadlines and making it to (almost forgotten) appointments. Here’s to the weekend and a Happy Valentine’s.

This is such a cute way to gift a girlfriend on Valentine’s. You can also change up the colors. I’m thinking different shades of pink or red. Love it!

Sweet potatoes have been on my mind lately and I couldn’t help but pin this on my Pinterest board. If all goes well and I actually have the time and energy to make these over the weekend and if they taste as awesome as they look, I’ll add it to my Tried and True.

I am a huge fan of midi tulle skirts. I think they scream elegance and class. I also love how you can dress them up or down. This one is dressed perfect for a day out on the town look with flats and a casual jacket. I love the colors too!
