Influenster #ReviveBox

Revivebox Influenster

I was recently chosen to receive the Influenster #revivebox as part of my participation on the Influenster website. For those who are unfamiliar with Influenster, it is an online community where shoppers feature their reviews and opinions on the latest products, including cosmetics, gadgets and even food that just hit the market. For more information click here.

The #revivebox is a featured box that contains a number of new products to play with and test out. It included:

– 3 Coffee Pods
– Snackwells Biscuit Thins
– 3 Protein Powders
– Shea Moisture shampoo and conditioner
– Body Tech plastic bottle

Revivebox Influenster

I think the theme for this box was on point. I mentioned in previous posts that I recently purchased a Nutribullet and the protein powders in this box are a perfect way for me to test a number of different powders and be able to decide which one I like best. And I love the fact that they added the plastic bottle. Perfect for shaking up a smoothie!

Revivebox Influenster

Revivebox Influenster

And I never knew how good Snackwells’ Biscuit Thins tasted until this box was dropped off at my doorstop. It pairs up really well with the coffee pods!!! What better way to help you #revive than a cup of coffee, right? And they also included coupons, woo hoo!

Revivebox Influenster

Revivebox Influenster

Last but definitely not least are the Shea Moisture shampoo and conditioner samples. Love the way these smell (like you’re on vacation). I’m going to have to do some research and find out where I can grab full size bottles of these!

Revivebox Influenster

What are your thoughts on the box? I think this box couldn’t have come at a better time for me. Just the motivation I needed to get back into shape and work on #reviving myself.

The Influenster Revivebox and its contents was kindly sent courtesy of Influenster and it’s sponsors for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

Katy Kat Collection for Covergirl: Matte Lipstick in Catoure and Eye Mascara in Perry Blue Review

Katy Kat Collection for Covergirl Matte Lipstick in Catoure and Eye Mascara in Perry Blue Review 2

Happy Wednesday everyone. Today I’m going to share my recent budget friendly find, items from the new Katy Perry X Covergirl collaboration (Katy Kat Collection).

There are 11 shades in the Katy Kat Matte Lipstick collection and 3 shades in the Katy Kat Eye Mascara. I grabbed one of each, the Katy Kat Matte Lipstick in Catoure and the Eye Mascara in Perry Blue.

Katy Kat Collection for Covergirl Matte Lipstick in Catoure and Eye Mascara in Perry Blue Review 3

I was excited to give these a try and had high hopes for them, especially the Perry Blue mascara. After giving this one a try, I fell in love with the color and I’m currently trying to hunt down other formulas and colors that will show up on my dark brown eyelashes.

The Kate Kat Matte Lipstick in Catoure is a taupe muted plum . It almost swatches like a dark nude on my pigmented lips. The formula is a matte but isn’t drying on the lips. I can pull this one off without applying a primer or balm beforehand and my lips won’t feel super dry. For the price, results and color I give this a thumbs up.

Katy Kat Collection for Covergirl Matte Lipstick in Catoure and Eye Mascara in Perry Blue Review 1

On the other hand, the Katy Kat Eye Mascara in Perry Blue was a huge let down for a number of reasons. First, the color doesn’t show up even under direct sunlight. And I also tried applying primer the second time I tested it out to give it a boost and almost nothing showed up. Second, it doesn’t perform well as a mascara either. No volume, no separation and barely any curl.

Katy Kat Collection for Covergirl Matte Lipstick in Catoure and Eye Mascara in Perry Blue Review 4

Overall, I give the Kate Kat Collection from Covergirl one thumb up. The Matte Lipstick is a winner while the mascara is a no go. The collection is currently available at drugstores and online.

Have any of you tried the Katy Kat Collection from Covergirl? What are your thoughts?

August 2016 Birchbox: Endless Summer

Birchbox August 2016 3

The theme for this year’s August Birchbox is Endless Summer. The box was shipped out in the beginning of month and delivered at my door stop this past weekend. For those unfamiliar with Birchbox, it is a monthly beauty subscription. You pay $10 a month and receive a set of diverse beauty samples according to your beauty profile.

The Endless Summer theme for this month was meant to help extend the feel of summer into the upcoming fall season. While I don’t understand how these particular products reflect this month’s theme I was pleased with what I got nonetheless.

Birchbox August 2016 2

For this month, my Birchbox contained:

stila Matte About You Liquid Lipstick in Aria (a soft pink)
Living proof No Frizz Nourishing Oil
HUM Nutrition Raw Beauty Green Superfood Powder
Acure Organics Coconut & Argan Oil Cleansing Towelettes
Marcelle BB Cream Golden Glow

I was really pleased with everything in this month’s box. The stila liquid lipstick is a beautiful soft pink that goes on super smooth and really does last all day. When I went on the website to check out other colors I was pleased to see that they came in a set of three for only $20.

Birchbox August 2016

I’ve been into hair products lately, after discovering how good my hair can look with Beauty Protector’s Protect & Detangle spray. I received it in my May Birchbox and ever since I’ve been experimenting with more hair care products. So I’m more than happy I received the nourishing oil from Living proof. I cant wait to see what that can do.

Next up are the Coconut & Argan Oil Cleansing Towelettes. You can never have too many towelettes, well at least I can’t. I use them up like they’re water. Nothing better than cleaning your face in a matter of seconds. Especially when your slowly falling asleep and realize last minute tat you didn’t properly clean your face. And a huge plus for the Acure Organics ones because they have argan oil in them and they smell like coconut!

Birchbox August 2016 4

For me, the newest item in the box is the HUM Nutrition Superfood Powder. Lately, I’ve been making “green” smoothies in the hopes that my energy level will go up and Ill get back to working out. So this protein powder could not have come at a better time. From the instructions all you need to do is pore the contents in any smoothie, drink or even just water. I’ll let everyone know how I feel about this one after giving it a good test run.

Last but not least is the Marcelle BB Cream. This product is not new to me, as I received a sample before in a previous box. And while I did use up the sample I got, I didn’t find the need to purchase the full size mostly because I have more primers than I need but I also thought it didn’t do anything my bronzer can’t.

An overall thumbs up for this months box. I like the fact that every month the boxes seem to get better and better.

If you’re interested, its not too late to get the August Birchbox subscription. And if you use the code EYEKOGIFT at checkout you’ll receive a free eyeliner (which I’ve used and love).

And best of all when you review your products you can get $5 back in points to use towards full size items in their store. I’m still saving mine for this beauty or this gorgeous box of goodies. Can’t wait till I save enough points.

Are any of you subscribed to any box subscriptions? Which box subscriptions are your favorite?

Clinique Pop Collection: ‘Cheek Pop’ ‘Lid Pop’ and ‘Pop Lip’

Clinique Pop Collection 'Cheek Pop' 'Lid Pop' and 'Pop Lip'

After seeing the latest additions to Clinique’s ‘Pop’ line I couldn’t help but think how cute and fun for the summer they would be. As I browsed the line at my local Nordstrom I decided on a few items that I thought I would use and took them home with me. They are:

Lid Pop Eyeshadow in Cream Pop ($17/ .21 oz.)
Cheek Pop Blush in Nude Pop ($22/ .12 oz.)
Pop Lip Color + Primer in Bare Pop ($18/ .14 oz.)

Clinique Pop Collection 'Cheek Pop' 'Lid Pop' and 'Pop Lip' 2

The collection is fun and vibrant and there were so many colors to choose from. Per usual, I opted for colors and options that were more neutral and wearable for my everyday lifestyle.

Lid Pop Eyeshadow in Cream Pop is a pretty golden nude shimmer, it has a unique cream to powder kind of finish that adheres well to the lids but doesn’t make them look dry

Cheek Pop Blush in Nude Pop has been on my list for ages, it’s a good neutral warm nude that adds a bit of natural color without looking too dark, it has a very soft sheen

Pop Lip Color + Primer in Bare Pop is a great wearable neutral that adds a natural hint of color and shine, I like that it didn’t dry out my lips and had no detectable taste or scent, there are a lot of other colors to choose from, I picked one to test out and really like the formula, Clinique also has two other formulas in the Pop Glaze Sheer and Pop Lacquers – I swatched a few briefly at the counter but decided to think about them

Clinique Pop Collection 'Cheek Pop' 'Lid Pop' and 'Pop Lip' 3

If you order online, Nordstrom currently has all their Clinique products for 10% off and there is a gift with purchase currently going on.

Receive deluxe samples of Smart Broad Spectrum SPF 15 Custom-Repair Moisturizer (0.24 oz.), Smart Custom-Repair Serum (0.34 oz.) and Smart Night Custom-Repair Moisturizer (0.24 oz) with your $49.50 Clinique purchase.

Clinique Pop Collection 'Cheek Pop' 'Lid Pop' and 'Pop Lip' 5

Overall, I’m pleased with my purchase and I can’t get over how cute the packaging is for the ‘Cheek Pop’ and ‘Lid Pop.’ Do you have any Clinique favorites?

Bobbi Brown Nourishing Lip Color in Ballerina Pink Review and Swatch

Bobbi Brown Nourishing Lip Color in Ballerina Pink Review

Hi everyone. I’m going to share my review of the Bobbi Brown Nourishing Lip Color in Ballerina Pink ($28) right now Nordstrom has their Bobbi Brown products for 10% off so you can currently get it for $25.20

I’ve been meaning to put up this review for a while now and got caught up with so many to-do things that I didn’t have time till now. Per Bobbi Brown: The Nourishing Lip Color is everything you want for lips and more. It combines deeply emollient natural oils with an incredibly lush, comfortable texture and luminous shine.

I picked the color Ballerina Pink because I tend to lean towards more taupe/natural colors, which is what it looked like online. Ballerina Pink is a medium subtle pink shade. Its more cool-toned than what appears on the online swatch.

Bobbi Brown Nourishing Lip Color in Ballerina Pink Swatch

The formula is hydrating and easy to apply. The color payoff is quite impressive for a “nourishing” lipstick. One swipe gives you a good amount of color. After one swipe I didn’t find it necessary to apply another. Lasting power for this one is not as long as the Chanel Rouge Coco Stylos but it did last for at least 2-2.5 hours on me without drinking or snacking.

I wasn’t really sure what to expect from the Bobbi Brown Nourishing Lip Color but overall it gets a thumbs from me. I like that its easy to apply, hydrates the lips and doesn’t break the bank.

You can currently get the Bobbi Brown Nourishing Lip Color at Nordstrom, Sephora and at your local Bobbi Brown counter. Reminder that Nordstrom currently has most of their Bobbi Brown products listed at 10% off.

NARS Summer 2016 Color Collection Dual Intensity Blush Review

NARS Summer 2016 Color Collection Dual Intensity Blush Review Sexual Content and Liberation 5

The NARS Summer Collection for 2016 launched a few weeks ago and I couldn’t be happier with the theme. The collection features soft natural colors for the summer and (no pops of color this time around). I purchased a couple of items to review and share with all of you including:

Dual Intensity Blush in Sexual Content $45)
Dual Intensity Blush in Liberation ($45)

NARS Summer 2016 Color Collection Dual Intensity Blush Review Sexual Content and Liberation 7

The Dual Intensity Blush in Sexual Content has a soft peach and light mauve pink shimmer. It has a very light shimmer that looks natural on the face. It’s a nude pink/peach that shows up on my medium skin in a natural way.

NARS Summer 2016 Color Collection Dual Intensity Blush Review Sexual Content and Liberation 4

Dual Intensity Blush in Liberation is a shimmering light pink and medium rose with warm tones, the shimmer is a bit more visible on this one compared to the Sexual Contact blush, but it’s not overly frosted, this one pulls a bit warmer on my skin but doesn’t turn orange, finish is smooth and doesn’t emphasize pores.

NARS Summer 2016 Color Collection Dual Intensity Blush Review Sexual Content and Liberation 2

I think the both of these are great everyday colors that can be worn all year round and not just for the summer. I really like the dual intensity formula, its like a powder and cream in one. It applies smooth on the skin and adheres well. Lasting power is pretty good too (lasted well into the afternoon when applied in the morning).

Overall, a thumbs up from me. Both blushes are limited edition so if you’ve been eyeing either one or both grab them while you can. The collection is available online at NARS, Nordstrom, Sephora, Saks Fifth Avenue and all other NARS retailers.

What’s in the Play! by Sephora – May 2016 Box

What's in the Play! by Sephora - May 2016 Box

Happy Monday everyone. I recently received my Play! by Sephora – May 2016 Box in the mail. For those unfamiliar with Play! by Sephora, it is a monthly beauty subscription launched by Sephora. You pay $10 a month and receive a box with the following:

– 5 deluxe samples plus a fragrance bonus
– Play! Book (a pamphlet which has information on the box contents + tips and tricks)
– Play! Pass (a card which allows you to redeem a free one-on-one tutorial + bonus points with any product purchase during the same store visit)

What's in the Play! by Sephora - May 2016 Box 4

The only way to subscribe is online at Sephora.com/play – but you have to sign up for a waitlist and once a spot opens they will send you an e-mail to claim a spot and join. I don’t quite remember when I signed up for the waitlist, but I only recently got accepted. In April I got my first Play! by Sephora box, but never got around to putting up the post on the blog.

What's in the Play! by Sephora - May 2016 Box 5

The May 2016 Box just arrived in the mail a few days ago and I’m going to share my first impressions of the items – eight sample-sized products wrapped in a super cute drawstring pouch. In the box was the following:

•Korres Wild Rose Advanced Brightening Sleeping Facial (0.34 fl oz/10 ml)
•Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Kimchi (0.05 oz/1.55 g, swatched on lips here)
•Origins Maskimizer Skin-Optimizing Mask Primer (0.05 fl oz/1.5 ml)
•Origins Clear Improvement Mask Packet (0.1 fl oz/3 ml)
•Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask (0.1 fl oz/3 ml)
•Briogio Don’t Despair Repair Deep Conditioning Mask (1 oz/29 ml)
•Tarteist Lip Crayon in Latergram (0.04 g)
•Atelier Cologne Orange Sanguine (in a tiny vial)

What's in the Play! by Sephora - May 2016 Box 6

What's in the Play! by Sephora - May 2016 Box 3

I must say I’m really happy with this box. It has so much to offer and I love that it comes with a drawstring pouch. I think this a great way to test a variety of products without splurging on any one item. And I think for the price of the box (shipping is free) you get decent sized samples of each item.

What's in the Play! by Sephora - May 2016 Box 8

Overall, I give the Play! by Sephora May 2016 Box a huge thumbs up. If you haven’t subscribed for these you can add your name to the wait list online at sephora.com/play – right now the only way to purchase a subscription is online. I think the wait time for each person is different depending on location. When I told a local Sephora sales rep that I got on the list she commented “Yeah, they started sending to our area.” There’s a page of FAQs here in case you have more questions.

Have any of you signed up for the Play! by Sephora Box? If you already signed up and received previous boxes what are your thoughts?

Dove’s Beauty Finish Dry Spray Antiperspirant and Advanced Care Antiperspirant Deodorant Review

Dove's Beauty Finish Dry Spray Antiperspirant and Advanced Care Antiperspirant Deodorant Review 3

Dove’s Beauty Finish scent that comes in a Dry Spray and Deodorant formula, is one of the only antiperspirants I use.

Me and my sister have been fans of Dove’s Advanced Care deodorants for a number of years now and I love how it really does help smooth the skin under the arms and I never feel any kind of irritation or get bumps from underarm hair removal when I use it. Not only that but I’ve tried other brands that never seemed to give me the same kind of results I got with Dove. Either their not long lasting and you have to reapply constantly or they irritate your skin.

While I’ve been a long time fan of the deodorant, I’ve only recently decided to give the dry spray formula in Beauty Finish a test run. I must say I was skeptical at first because I didn’t think it was powerful enough to last throughout the day nor give me that fresh and clean feeling I came to expect from my deodorant.

Dove's Beauty Finish Dry Spray Antiperspirant and Advanced Care Antiperspirant Deodorant Review

After testing this out for a few months now, I must say its exceeded my expectations. I also like the fact that you can even spray it on your clothes and the scent will last you a good while. I don’t feel like I need to reapply as often throughout the day, unless its sweltering hot outside (which I forgot what that feels like in Chicago). And even so its so easy with the dry spray. Another great factor is that it doesn’t leave any residue on your skin, which means you won’t find it on your clothes either. 😀

One of the biggest reasons why I’m a loyal fan though is the Beauty Finish scent. I can’t get over it. It makes you feel so put together and like you just came out of the shower. And although I’ve been using this for a really long time now, the scent always catches me by surprise. Throughout the day I would be working at my desk and think to myself ‘what smells so good’ and before I know I’m sniffing my shirt and trying to figure out of its the new face cream I used or the lip gloss. lol *fun times*

Dove's Beauty Finish Dry Spray Antiperspirant and Advanced Care Antiperspirant Deodorant Review 2

While I have tried and enjoyed other scents including go fresh Cool Essentials (cucumber and melon) and Revive (pomegranate and lemon) I always go back to my Beauty Finish.

Do any of you have a favorite deodorant? You can find the Advanced Care Dove deodorants and dry sprays currently at your local drug store, retail stores and online.

May 2016 Birchbox Contents: All About the Outdoors

May 2016 Birchbox Contents All About the Outdoors 3

Happy Monday everyone. I recently received my May Birchbox in the mail. For those unfamiliar with Birchbox, it is a monthly beauty subscription. You pay $10 a month and receive a set of diverse beauty samples according to your beauty profile.

Every month, Birchbox lets subscribers pick between a curated box (all samples revealed) or a single sample choice and be surprised by the rest of the items. This review is on the surprise box (I didn’t get a chance to login and choose in time before they were out of the curated box).

This months box is all about the outdoors and that beautiful sunny weather. After all it is May. Alas, we’ve had to be a little more patient than usual here in Chicago as we’ve been getting lots of clouds and rain.

For this month, my Birchbox contained:

– A sample of Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy Noir
– Vita Liberata Fabulous Self-Tanning Gradual Lotion
– Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner
– Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle
– COOLA® Classic Face Sport SPF 50 White Tea

May 2016 Birchbox Contents All About the Outdoors 2

For me, this month’s box is so-so. I usually don’t go out and purchase hair care items so anything I get in my sample boxes that’s for the hair is a huge plus. And I really liked the Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle since the travel size Drybar Hot Toddy has been on my list and sold out for a while.

With me, its always a gamble when I get perfume samples. I was one of those girls who was never a fan of the Juicy Couture line. And although, this perfume actually smells really nice, I don’t think I’ll be making a full size purchase of the bottle.

Eyeliner is always a plus for me and while I already own the Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner, I will be using this for travel purposes or to keep in my makeup bag. I give a thumbs up too!

Last but not least, the Vita Liberata Fabulous Self-Tanning Gradual Lotion is something new to me. I haven’t really been playing around with too many self-tanning products other than the one by Benefit. I’m excited to give this one a try. Although, I applied some on the back of my hand and didn’t see an effect. Maybe I need to read the directions first.

May 2016 Birchbox Contents All About the Outdoors

If you’re interested, its not too late to get the May Birchbox subscription. And if you use the code PIXIPALETTE at checkout you’ll receive a free Pixi by Petra Palette (which contains 6 eyeshadows and is super cute.) And best of all when you review your products you can get $5 back in points to use towards full size items in their store. I’m currently saving mine for this beauty. Although, I have been eyeing this gorgeous curated box. Can’t wait till I save enough points.

Are any of you subscribed to any box subscriptions? Which box subscriptions are your favorite?

Friday Finds

Happy Friday everyone. I’m so glad the weather has been really nice the past two days. I’m hoping it lasts till the weekend. Hope you all enjoy my Friday Finds from around the net.

Clicking on the image should take you to the source.

Warm weather brings with it much inspiration. The sun makes me happy and when I’m happy I get inspired to splurge on the most beautiful of candies. No kidding, candy and sweets are the one thing I will never feel guilty about splurging on. I mean look at the image below. Who could pass that up? 😀

Sugarfina Hello Spring

Speaking of warm weather I came across these cute water bottles as I was ‘window shopping’ and I loved the idea of having water stay cool for a good 24 hours. I’ve been secretly hoping for something like this. Occasionally, I bring cold milk with me to the office and I never liked having to leave it in the kitchen fridge. ha

S'Well Water Bottle

This dress from Anthropologie is super cute! I love the color and the cute lace detailing. Perfect for summer.

Anthro Dress

Wedding season is upon us and what better reason to splurge on a gorgeous gown, right? I’m loving this one from Badgley Mischka. So elegant and classy.

NeimanM DressTB6FW_mu

Last but not least are these mouth watering Avocado, Cream Cheese, and Salsa-Stuffed Puff Pastries. Yes, I’m still eating them almost every day. It’s like once you start you can’t stop. lol I think I might give these a try over the weekend.

Speaking of which, I’m so glad that the farmer’s market season finally started this week. And although it stopped by on a cloudy and rainy day, its presence sure put a smile on my face.

avocadopuffpastry-17

Hope everyone has an amazing weekend. Do you have anything special planned?
